“HMM Opal” to connect Korea, China, and the USA
HMM has introduced “HMM Opal”, the eleventh in its series of twelve brand-new 13,000 teu containerships, named after the opal birthstone, to reflect the company’s care for customers' cargo.
The vessel, tailored to meet stringent environmental standards, is equipped with selective catalytic reduction (SCR) systems to reduce nitrogen oxide emissions, ballast water treatment systems (BWTS), and alternative maritime power (AMP) connections for shore power.
“HMM Opal” will serve on the Pacific South Express (PSX) route, connecting key ports in Korea, China, and the USA. With the capacity increase from previous vessels, this ship is designed for eco-efficient operations, featuring a structure that is ready for future LNG conversion, making it both eco-friendly and future-proof.
