Hegelmann adds 1,000 trucks

Due to the spot market’s high demand for FTL transport, Germany’s Hegelmann Group is adding 1,000 trucks to its fleet in 2021. The acquisition involves replacement and expansion investments in roughly equal parts. The first tranche of 550 trucks from Daimler has already been ordered. Hegelmann currently has 4,000 vehicles in operation.

Siegfried Hegelmann, managing director of the Hegelmann Group, is ambitious: "Due to the high degree of fragmentation, the potential in the European FTL market is almost limitless. We want to continue to grow significantly in this area."

The company, which has 26 locations in Europe with around 7,000 employees, saw a rise in revenues of 12% in 2020 to approximately EUR 700 million.

Amongst others, Hegelmann also offers UK transports on the basis of its Hegelmann Transport Ferry Service (HTFS), which combines road transport with ferry and rail services on 300 European routes. (sh)
