Heating up Australian agri exports

A new trade facility at Toowoomba’s Wellcamp airport (WTB) now uses cool technology to help supercharge airfreight for agricultural producers in the Brisbane region. The Toowoomba Wellcamp Trade Distribution Centre (TWTDC) can help to increase the shelf life of beef, dairy, fruit, vegetables, pork and nut products.

The TWTDC covers a gross floor area of 4,000 sqm, including 1,500 sqm of refrigerated storage, freezer rooms and temperature-controlled transit areas. It also has a large transit and covered external storage areas.

The Queensland-based Wagner Corporation completed the AUD 20 million (EUR 12.7 million) project in July, in just 156 days. The facility already works hand-in-hand with flights organised by Australia’s International Freight Assistance Mechanism. Two weekly IFAM flights currently deliver local produce to China, Hong Kong, Singapore, Dubai, Canada, USA and Europe. (ah)
