German supply chain strategies evolving
Yesterday, 9 April, saw logistics experts discuss the resilience of supply chains in an online press conference in preparation for Germany’s ‘Tag der Logistik’ (logistics day) today, 10 April. The IFO Institute’s Dr Klaus Wohlrabe presented new survey findings, showing increased supply chain diversification, expanded inventories, stronger regional sourcing and greater production flexibility amongst German companies.
Professor Christian Kille spoke for a council of logistics experts (‘Logistikweisen’), highlighting the fact that, despite current economic challenges, the logistics sector is becoming increasingly resilient. Investment in digitalisation and automation continues, whilst investment in sustainability remain more cautious. (js)
