Geodis Germany "lean and green"
At the Trade Logistics Congress 2022 in Cologne, the contract logistics division of Geodis Germany was awarded the 'Lean and Green 1st Star' by GS1 Germany. The contract logistics service provider has been able to reduce its carbon footprint by around 30% over the past five years.
One of the measures was to convert all of the group's fourteen locations in Germany to green electricity. This took place on 1 January 2020 and achieved a CO2 saving of around 1,415 t in two years.
Another measure was the conversion of the vehicle fleet to Euro-trailers. These units offer more loading space, which means that every eleventh transport can be saved. With this move, Geodis Germany reached a milestone in a plan called 'Ambition 2023', which envisages a worldwide CO2 reduction of 30% by 2030. (sh)
