Freight train to reopen Riedbahn line
After five months of construction work, the Riedbahn between Frankfurt/Main and Mannheim in Germany is set to reopen on Sunday, 15 December, initially with a scheduled freight train. Then the number of trains will then be gradually increased until full operation on 23 December. The companies along the route are already being supplied directly via the new tracks. Among other things, the project included the renewal tracks, points, signals and overhead lines.
The Riedbahn is one of the busiest lines in Germany. In the past, the outdated infrastructure repeatedly led to disruptions that affected the entire rail network. (ben)
