Former Geneva Airport security chief found guilty

The Geneva Criminal Court has sentenced the former head of security at Geneva Airport to six months in prison, followed by a two-and-a-half-year probation period, for passive corruption. This man had favoured a company so that it could obtain mandates, in exchange of money. He was arrested in 2019.

The former executive, who admits the facts, appeared under a simplified procedure. He was found guilty of passive corruption, unfair management of public interests, breach of official secrecy, instigation to forge documents and complicity in unemployment insurance fraud.

In 2012, he entered into a "corruption pact" with the head of a company to ensure that this company was awarded a number of service contracts by Geneva Airport. His part of the deal was to influence the contract awarding process to that the airport would decide in the company’s favour. (cj)
