First FE Electric for Isle of White


Sustainable waste management company Biffa introduces first electric skiploader.

With its new 18 t Volvo FE Electric 4x2 rigid, Biffa is bringing zero tailpipe emission operations to the Isle of Wight. The vehicle has been mounted with Boughton Engineering skiploader bodywork and is powered by two electric motors, generating a peak torque of 850 Nm. It is equipped with four batteries, offers a range of 190 km and can be recharged in just 2.3 hours with the use of a 150 kW DC charger.

The arrival of the FE Electric forms part of an order for 104 new Biffa vehicles from Volvo Trucks. The vehicles are being deployed in the UK as part of a major fleet modernisation programme. (ben) www.volvotrucks.co.uk www.biffa.co.uk
