First African B737-400SF on approach

The American aircraft passenger-to-freighter conversion specialist Aeronautical Engineers (AEI) has entered an agreement to provide Nigeria-based Allied Air with up to four AEI B737-800SF freighters. The agreement calls for two firm orders with an additional two options.

The first aircraft will commence modification in mid-March and all touch labour will be performed by Commercial Jet in Miami, FL (USA).

Allied Air is a key operator in the region. Currently, Africa’s first IOSA certified cargo airline operates a total of three AEI B737-400SF and flies for the DHL network within Africa as well as the Central Bank of Nigeria.

The B737-800 aircraft represents the first African airline owned B737-800SF that has a maximum maindeck payload of 23.9 t, and will also be the youngest B737-800 converted to date. (ah)
