"Finnsirius" wins Ro-Pax of the Year award
On 20 September, Finnlines’ newbuilding “M/S Finnsirius” was named the Ro-Pax of the Year 2023 by the ‘Ferry Shipping Summit’, which assembles a large number of professionals within the shipping industry, including ferry, ro-ro and ro-pax operators, ports and suppliers.
Shipbuilding is a collaborative endeavour and in addition to the China Merchants Jinling Shipyard in Weihai this project engaged many other partners. The Superstar ro-pax concept design was implemented in close cooperation with the Grimaldi Group, Finnlines and the Nordic ship design company, Knud E. Hansen.
The concept was further developed into a contract design by the Finnish naval architects and marine engineers Deltamarin. Deltamarin was responsible for basic engineering as well.
Finnlines, part of the Grimaldi Group, operates freight and passenger services in the Baltic Sea, the North Sea and the Bay of Biscay. (cj)
