Fight against Covid-19 in the Antipodes

Hawaiian Airlines reports that "while our nearly empty cabins signal the difficult new reality facing the airline industry, the containers that fill the bellies of our aircraft tell a different, more uplifting, story": Each day approximately 51 t of produce, perishables and time-sensitive products are carried across the US airline's network.

Cargo ist currently transported between Hawai‘i and Los Angeles and San Francisco with widebody A330, and within the islands with narrowbody B717 jets and ATR 72 all-cargo turboprop aircraft.

With nearly 95% of its flight schedule currently suspended, Hawaiian Airlines has quickly amassed a surplus of in-flight service items, of which over 7,500 cuplets of juice, 1,000 fleece blankets and over 3,500 of lie-flat seat mattresses have been donated. (ah)
