Favourable figures for Matson in 2018
The Matson Navigation Company, whose headquarters are in San Francisco (USA), generated a net income of USD 109 million in 2018. In 2017, the income was USD 232 million for the full year, but that was shored up by USD 155.0 million from a one-time, non-cash tax adjustment as a result of the tax act.
Consolidated revenue for the full year 2018 was USD 2.2 billion, compared with USD 2 billion in the previous year. In China, the company's container volume in Q4/2018 was 3.8% higher than in Q4/2017.
For 2019, Matson expects a more modest contribution from its China trade with lower average freight rates and lower volumes than the levels achieved in 2018. (kd)
