Fast charging columns for long-haul BEVs

IDS Logistik is planning to purchase two DC fast-charging columns with an output of 400 kW and four charging points for its central hub in Neuenstein, Germany. It will also acquire a transformer station with a connected load of 0.8 MW and the option to expand it to 1.6 MW.  Construction of the charging facilities is set to begin this year.

The new charging infrastructure is part of the ‘green logistics’ project, in which the general cargo cooperation intends to test battery electric trucks (BEV) on 30 long-haul routes - some as long as 300 km - between the network’s hubs.

Two initial pilots are already firmly planned. IDS says that it aims to deploy more BEVs on hub transports on distances of up to 300 km from 2025 and to extend the length of the journeys to up to 500 km from 2027. (ben)
