External support for Swiss logistics IT
Automation and digitalisation are increasing year by year in Swiss Post, even though there’s a growing shortage of IT specialists in Switzerland. Swiss Post is therefore setting up its own European IT development site in Portugal, with up to 120 additional employees in the medium term.
In this way the corporation can gain access to the international labour market, but not relocate any IT jobs abroad. On the contrary, Swiss Post plans to create an estimated 200 new IT jobs in Switzerland by 2030.
It currently has the third-largest IT department of nationally-active companies in Switzerland. 1,300 employees and around 400 external IT specialists are involved in the digitalisation of Swiss Post. (sh)
