As March passenger traffic plunged by 48% year-on-year, even the Irish low cost carrier Ryanair diversified its business, operating 33,000 scheduled flights (64,000 budgeted) last month. They included a number of rescue and medical flights on behalf of various EU governments.
In a 14 April tweet, Ryanair stated it was proud to transport essential PPE medical equipment into Warsaw Modlin airport - to help in the fight against Covid-19. This personal protective equipment will reach hospitals and frontline staff in the Mazovia region of Poland." (ah)
