Electronic payment services for seafarers
Mitsui O.S.K. Lines (MOL) has introduced Martrust, a specialised payment service for seafarers on its vessels. Developed by the Marcura Group, Martrust offers e-wallet accounts and international debit cards to seafarers, enabling electronic payment services.
This move aims to enhance seafarers’ quality of life by transitioning from cash payments to digital methods. The new system simplifies salary remittances and makes online shopping and port purchases more convenient, while streamlining financial management aboard ships.
MOL plans to offer Martrust to all eligible seafarers by FY/2024, promoting efficiency and convenience while adhering to international conventions regarding seafarer payments. (pb)
