Electric reachstackers for Melbourne
Kalmar has secured a deal to supply the Intermodal Terminal Company (ITC) in Australia with six Kalmar electric reachstackers and two Kalmar electric empty container handlers. This eco-friendly equipment will operate at ITC's Somerton Intermodal Terminal in Melbourne, Victoria.
Owned by Aware Super, the terminal is set to become Australia's largest intermodal facility, capable of handling over 1 million teu annually. By deploying electric reachstackers and container handlers powered by lithium-ion batteries, ITC aims to reduce emissions and alleviate congestion on Melbourne's roads. (pb)
