Electric cooling for Logista fleet
Logista has reported that it has introduced its first refrigerated trailer – a Thermo King AxlePower system.
This self-charging electric cooling technology, integrated with BPW’s ePower axle and a battery pack, aims to reduce emissions and enhance fleet efficiency. The AxlePower system enables electric cooling independent of the tractor unit.
By capturing and storing energy during transit, it powers refrigeration silently and without CO₂ emissions, making it suitable for urban and ultra-low emission zones. Compared to diesel refrigeration units, each system can cut CO₂ emissions by up to 12 t annually, depending on operational hours as the company states.
The system’s smart power management adjusts to road conditions, optimising energy use and reducing fuel consumption, particularly on uphill climbs. (js)
