Duisport to introduce new cargo scanning system
Duisport is building a large-scale X-ray scanning facility for loaded trucks in Duisburg, the first for a German inland port. Estimated at EUR 3 million, this initiative aims to enhance customs inspections and accelerate customs processes, ensuring higher security standards at the world's largest inland port.
The facility, which will include a 620 sqm hall and a 550 sqm office building, reflects its commitment to increasing international security standards and facilitating efficient trade, Duisport said in a press release.
The new equipment will help the hub deal with the increased truck inspections required post-Brexit and support the customs office to effectively manage rising logistical demands. (pb)
