Duisport strengthening hub function

A new tariff structure in the inland port of Duisburg brings 50% savings for containers that make a stopover at the port. The new gateway tariff for railfreight in combined transport will apply from 1 January 2024. From then, loaded containers or trailers that enter the port of Duisburg by rail and leave again with the same cargo within 96 hours will only be charged a single fee.

The new tariff will result in savings of 50%. With this innovation, Duisport is strengthening its function as a central hinterland hub in Europe, particularly with regard to the toll increase that will come into force on 1 December 2023, the company said. (ben)
