DPD Switzerland opts for e-truck

DPD already guarantees carbon-neutral deliveries to every recipient – without additional costs for the customer. As from December 2020, DPD will go a step further and deploy an e-truck. The vehicle runs purely on electric power and is equipped with the largest battery available in Europe. It has a range of up to 760 km per battery charge.

Initially, the e-truck will be used on the stretch between the DPD depot in Möhlin and the distribution centre in Buchs. It was developed by Designwerk Products in Winterthur on the basis of a Volvo vehicle. The e-truck is intended cover 80,000 km per year, and, in comparison to a Diesel truck, it is expected to save around 90 kg CO2 per 100 km and 72 t CO2 per annum. (ben)
