Digitalisation to boost volumes

The IDS groupage network saw its shipment volumes decrease by 5.6% overall in 2023, with its partner companies moving a total of 3.2 million t of goods in Germany - almost 7.2% less than in 2022. Demand was particularly weak in the housing and mechanical engineering sectors and the B2C business.

Total turnover in all 54 IDS locations fell by a disproportionate 1.4%, which is mainly due to rises in tolls and personnel costs. IDS Logistic anticipates zero growth for 2024. The situation is likely to deteriorate further.

To counteract this development and improve efficiency, IDS plans to accelerate digitalisation and enhance cyber security in the network. (ben)
