Digital solution for keyless overnight deliveries
Since April 2019, Night Star Express in Germany has been carrying out a trial run of night deliveries for ten selected customers. The spare parts and goods are deposited inside the vehicles. This service is made possible by a new electronic solution developed by Mercedes-Benz.
The software includes a digital key that is integrated into the driver’s manual scanner, which allows a keyless delivery of the goods directly into the vehicle that has been left at the agreed address. The first results of the trial run have been positive.
The digital solution ensures efficient, transparent and safe express deliveries overnight, Night Star Express says. Until the end of the year, Mercedes-Benz wants to equip 200 vehicles with this technology and officially introduce the new system in Germany in the first quarter of 2020. (ben)
