Diesel-powered vehicles to phase out by 2025

DHL in the USA now owns and operates 50 Orange EV yard trucks that are currently in service at more than 30 DHL Supply Chain sites in the country. By 2025, the company plans to increase its fleet to 100 electric yard trucks and phase out its diesel-powered vehicles.

Experience shows that the switch from diesel to e-trucks brings several benefits. DHL estimates that by using 50 electric yard trucks instead of diesel vehicles it can save more than 2,500 t of CO2 per year.

Orange EV trucks average more than 98% uptime compared to 70-80% uptime for diesel, increasing operational efficiency. Further benefits are fuel savings, lower maintenance and repair costs as well as improved driver safety and satisfaction, the company said. (ben)
