DHL to convert its complete UK fleet for JLR

UK car maker Jaguar Land Rover (JLR) has renewed its freight services contract with DHL Supply Chain UK for a further three years.

The contract contains transitioning DHL’s entire UK core fleet in the JLR operation to alternative fuels including a combination of battery power, bio-CNG and hydrotreated vegetable oil (HVO) powered HGVs. The new fleet will be fully operational by April 2024.

The switch will reduce CO2 emissions by 85% per HGV or by 8,433 annually on the UK’s roads, representing the equivalent of planting 350,000 trees. The fleet will also use larger 15.6 m trailers instead of the current 13.6 m trailers. DHL will begin by replacing 30 diesel trucks with bio-CNG Scania 4x2 vehicles. (ben)
