DHL building new parcel centre near Berlin
The Deutsche Post DHL Group is building a new parcel centre in Ludwigsfelde, to the south of Berlin. The 37,000 sqm facility will be equipped with innovative sorting technology so that up to 50,000 packets and parcels per hour can be processed by mid-2021.
The site – the size of five football - will be one of the largest and most efficient parcel handling platforms in Europe. Most DHL parcel centres can process 30,000 to 40,000 shipments every hour.
Costing a high eight digit sum of money, the new parcel centre will provide jobs for around 600 people once operations start. (mw)
