DB Schenker introduces global space scan

As supply chains have been impaired by the coronavirus pandemic, global demand for additional storage capacities is rising. DB Schenker is addressing this need by implementing a global space scan, a new service to identify and assess available idle space in all 794 of its own contract logistics warehouses in more than 60 countries.

Changing customer behaviour due to Covid-19 has led to shipping backlogs in various regions around the globe. At the same time, growing consumer demand for certain goods, for example in the food or health care sector, has led to an increase in production.

This has created a need for additional space along two dimensions: currently unsaleable items need to be stored temporarily, and companies must build up stocks to avoid interruptions in supply. (mw)
