DB Cargo UK opens green terminal
DB Cargo UK has reported that it has opened “Britain’s first climate-friendly railfreight terminal” in Cricklewood, North London. The site supports the sustainable transport of construction materials and waste, helping to reduce road congestion and lower emissions, as railfreight produces less CO₂e than road transport.
Environmental initiatives include a green noise barrier, reforestation with native species, a water recycling system, renewable energy use, HVO biofuel and fuel-efficient machinery. Office unit reuse also cut carbon emissions. According to DB Cargo UK the terminal serves as a model for future low-carbon logistics sites in the UK. (js)
