Coordinadora successfully delivers oversized cargo

The transport engineering company Coordinadora recently transported five oversized shipments. The cargo was loaded onto a ship at the port of Avilés on Spain's Atlantic coast, and then travelled approximately 1,500 km around the Iberian Peninsula to Algeciras Bay in the Mediterranean.

The cargo was then discharged and loaded onto a vehicle that hauled the goods to their destination - the San Roque refinery in Cadiz. The five out-of-gauge shipments included a 187 t reactor and a 50 t regenerator.

The cargo’s dimensions, particularly the height and width of the bigger pieces, were challenging, as was the final leg of the transport process when the cargo had to be hauled through Campamento, a small town between Algeciras and Cádiz.

The Spanish company’s team required several months to plan and assess the route to ensure the cargo’s safe arrival. (mw)
