Convoy delivers aid to Gaza

305 trucks carrying 6,000 t of humanitarian aid, along with eleven ambulances, departed from Cairo (Egypt) en route to the Gaza Strip on Sunday, 26 January.

The lorries are loaded with medical supplies, equipment, medicines, large quantities of food and bottled drinks, milk and baby formula, clothing, blankets, disinfectants and personal care items. The mission was organised by the not-for-profit organisation Egyptian Zakat and Charity House, together with partners.

The trucks should enter the Gaza Strip through the Karam Abu Salem and Al Owja border crossings for inspection by Israeli forces, before delivering the aid to Palestinians, according to Egypt’s state information service SIS. (ben)
