Contargo banking on low-emission services

Contargo has launched a CO2-reduced transport chain in Europe. By booking “econtargo”, customers will not purchase mere compensation. They will be buying a combination of last mile by e-truck and main run by rail, using trains powered by green electricity.

As part of its contribution to an eco-friendly climate-change policy, Contargo is expanding its e-truck fleet from seven to 32 trucks in partnership with Rhenus Trucking. 50 more e-trucks are to be added in a second phase.

Furthermore, Contargo will initially install 33 charging points at 14 of its locations in Germany. With this charging infrastructure, the carrier can use the e-trucks as flexibly as it does diesel vehicles, even for 24-hour operations. (ben)
