Container trains generate 60% less CO2

This year, Metrans trains have already transported 527,000 teu with zero emissions on routes directly connected to Hamburg and Bremerhaven (both Germany) and Koper (Slovenia).

The low-emission electric locomotives and hybrid shunting locos deployed are particularly efficient, as are 80 ft lightweight wagons developed in-house and a low-shunting concept of terminal-only blocktrains.

Metrans trains emit an average of 60% less CO2 than conventional container trains. In Germany and Austria, Metrans trains have run on green electricity only since the beginning of 2021. The goal is to reduce CO2 emissions even further, through capital investment, amongst other measures. (ben)
