Complex crane transport from Kobe to New Orleans
AAL Shipping recently transported a 560 t crane from Kobe (Japan) to New Orleans (USA), as part of its Asia-Americas trade lane service.
The shipment included a 60 t crane boom and five large grab buckets, requiring meticulous planning, due to the size and complexity of the load. To mitigate weather-related risks, AAL’s engineering team adjusted the lifting plan, speeding up operations.
In New Orleans, last-minute changes meant that the vessel’s heavylift cranes couldn’t use a floating crane to discharge the cargo onto a barge. Extensive stability simulations ensured safe handling at every stage.
AAL described the shipment as a demonstration of its engineering expertise and its ability to overcome logistics challenges. (pb)
