Coca Cola by rail

Beverage producer Coca-Cola is increasingly relying on rail services for long-distance deliveries between its production sites. Logistics services provider DB Cargo ensures that the products arrive on time.

More routes are being added to the rail network since this month, in order to complete a nationwide railfreight network for Coca-Cola linking 13 locations by the middle of this year.

With the new, eco-friendly mode of transport, DB will cut CO2 emissions by around 1,900 per annum. And there will be more room on the motorways, too: the company expects to save around 3 million truck km per year on its long-haul routes.

Coca-Cola and DB Cargo began shifting these transports to the railways already back in 2016, with a joint project launched for this purpose. (ben)
