CO2 efficiency in short sea shipping
CLDN reported a significant reduction in fleet emissions for 2023, achieving an average of 39 g CO2/tonne-km, which is 19% better than its closest short sea competitor and more than twice as efficient as road haulage.
This reduction was driven by substantial investments in new, fuel-efficient ro-ro ships and eco-upgrades, totalling EUR 750 million over the past decade. CLDN's fleet, with an average vessel age of 11.5 years, continues to lead in carbon efficiency, benefiting its customers by reducing scope 3 emissions. (pb)
