CMA CGM serious about air division

A long-held dream has come true. The French shipping group CMA CGM Group is establishing its own specialised airfreight division. The carrier's first move to buy a 30%-stake in the Group Dubreuil, owner of the long-haul airlines Air Caraïbes and French Bee, didn’t materialise. Now negotiations with Qatar airways have apparently borne fruit. The recently formed ‘CMA CGM Air Cargo’ division will bank on the acquisition of four long-range freighters, Airbus A330-200 freighters with 60 t payload, which entered service between 2014 and 2016.According to the ITJ’s research, these four freighters are the last A330Fs sold by Qatar Airways. The units will be operated by Air Belgium and deployed from Liège (see ITJ Daily of 4 February 2021). (cd)
