‘Chipolbrok Atlantic’ calls at Hamburg
The ‘Chipolbrok Atlantic’ called at the port of Hamburg at the turn of the month as part of voyage 43/44. The vessel discharged and loaded heavy and voluminous cargo, including 103 t generators and large steel structures for a German steel plant, Chipolbrok said. The cargo originated in China and was shipped from Jingtang, Lusi and Taicang.
For the return voyage to India, Southeast Asia and China, via Antwerp and Huelva, the vessel took on a 317 t turbine, steel structures in crates bound for India (50–60 t), 90 t diesel generators, all lifted by two shipboard cranes in tandem.
According to Chipolbrok the operation underlined the role of conventional cargo handling in Hamburg, integrating various logistics services. (js)
