Chinese tea to Africa by rail and sea

The first train loaded with 56,000 kgs of selenium-rich tea leaves from Chinese Hubei Province left Yichang on 12 September and arrived in Ningbo Port just two days later, China Railways reported. At Ningo Beilun Port in Zhejiang, the goods were transferred to a sea vessel for export to Casablanca in Morocco. This marks the first time Enshi-se enriched tea has been exported to Africa via a sea-rail intermodal train.

The rail route significantly reduced transport times compared to the 15 days required for water transport from Chongqing to Ningbo. China launched the sea-rail intermodal train services from Yichang to Ningbo in July this year. (ben)
