Chinese locos for Hungary
Rail Cargo Hungary (RCH) has received type approval and the authorisation to put into service the locomotives from manufacturer CRRC Zelc to meet the shunting needs of single wagonload service and reduce operating costs.
The lithium-titanate battery installed in the 72 t heavy locomotive recharges on sections with overhead contact lines. On a track without such lines, the shunting locomotive can haul an 800 t train for 85 minutes at a speed of 20 km/h. The two units will be deployed at the Hungarian marshalling yards in Szekesfehervar and the Soroksar. (ben)
