Charging network for heavy e-trucks

Contargo has commissioned SBRS, a provider of technology for e-charging infrastructure for road transport, to set up 33 charging points at 14 locations in Germany over the course of 2023. Each landing point is to be equipped with a capacity of 250kW.

The charging infrastructure, as well as the purchase of 28 battery-powered 44-t trucks, is being financially supported by the German federal ministry of digital affairs and transport (BMDV) as part of a funding programme.

Contargo reports that the e-vehicles have already been ordered and are to be gradually put into service this year. The trimodal container services provider hopes to save 1.5 million km per year with these e-vehicles. (ben)
