Cargo handling for new carrier at CGN
Maersk Air Freight has awarded a multi-year contract to Dnata in Germany. Dnata will handle around 6,000 t of cargo annually for the new air cargo player, which currently operates weekly flights between Cologne Bonn (CGN, Germany) and Greenville Spartanburg (GSP, USA), with a Magma B747-400F. Maersk plans to increase weekly frequencies, significantly expanding cargo capacity on the route in the coming months.
Dnata, a part of the Emirates group, entered the German cargo market in 2022 by acquiring the operator of the Cologne Bonn Cargo Centre, a 12,000 sqm facility. It now serves 20 airlines with a team of around 100 at the airport. In financial 2022-2023, Dnata handled almost 60,000 t of cargo at Germany's third-largest cargo airport. (ah)
