Bringing Ukrzaliznytsia closer to EU rail network
Ukrzaliznytsia and the Rail Cargo Group (RCG) have joined forces to develop intermodal transports between Ukraine and Austria. The project envisages a regular connection between Kiev (Ukraine) and Vienna (Austria), which will be extended to Lviv (Ukraine) and Budapest (Hungary). The operation of a Ukrainian grain carrier fleet on the territory of Hungary and Slovakia is also under consideration.
Ukrzaliznytsia will be responsible for traction vehicles, intermodal broad-gauge wagons, terminal services and customs formalities in Ukraine, RCG for rail transport in the EU. The partners are planning to carry out a first test transport with semi-trailers between Kiev and Budapest soon. (ben)
