Breaking ground after two years of preparation

After the preparations to lay the foundation stone for Zufalls logistics centre in Flieden near Fulda, Germany, had developed into an unexpectedly long tug of war lasting almost two years, construction work on the around 80,000 sqm site has finally begun in earnest and is making good progress.

"Currently, we expect to be able to put all four units into service this year," says Christoph Göbel, branch manager Zufall Fulda.

Indeed, the company has already opened the first unit covering an area of roughly 10,000 with 550 sqm of storage space on the mezzanine floor and 570 sqm for offices, social areas and sanitary facilities. Currently, the storage area is being used to store tyres. When completed, the four units will provide a total storage capacity of 45,000 sqm. (sh)
