Biggest cargo carrier back in Africa

Releasing its annual report for the fiscal year ending on 31 March 2020, Qatar Airways says it transported 1,493 million t of cargo, 2.8% more than in the twelve months before. This was in part due to the fact that the cargo carrier transported significant amounts of relief cargo between January and March 2020.

Group CEO Akbar Al Baker: "These efforts are the reason why we have become the largest international airline and air freight carrier since the onset of the pandemic, taking over two million people home safely and reliably and carrying over 250,000 t of medical and aid supplies to impacted regions."

In other news, Qatar Airways is adding Accra to its network of 14 destinations in Africa. From today, 29 September 2020, the capital of Ghana will be served four times per week with B787. (ah)
