Big retailer opens another hub in UK
Asos, an online retailer for fashion and textiles, currently operates fulfilment centres in Barnsley UK), Berlin (Germany) and Atlanta (GA, USA). A further distribution centre built by GMI has now come on stream at Fradley Park in Lichfield, UK.
The 133,000 sqm facility is a GBP 90 million (EUR 160 million) development which took 39 weeks to build. More than 700 people have already been recruited at the facility, with that number rising to 2,000 over the next three years.
Asos says it expects to ship over 30 million units in the site’s first year, and up to 4.5 million per week once the facility is fully operational and automation is complete. (sh)
