Azeri-German partnership on the Middle Corridor
The Azeri company Ady Express, a subsidiary of Azerbaijan Railways, and the German logistician Hellmann have completed their first joint cargo transport on the Middle Corridor of the New Silk Road.
The blocktrain transported 55 feu carrying mixed cargo. It departed from Chongqing (China) and passed through Kazakhstan, across the Caspian Sea, Azerbaijan and Georgia, where the cargo was split up for destinations in Romania, Turkey and Germany.
The decision to use the Middle Corridor underscores Azerbaijan’s importance as a strategic transit hub and highlights the growing attractivity of the Middle Corridor, Ady Express said.
The corridor significantly reduces transit times by bypassing congested routes and traditional ports. (ben)
