Australia's first off-grid truck fleet

Full-service logistics solutions provider Centurion will integrate 30 battery electric trucks powered by solar generation and off-grid battery energy storage into its fleet by the end of 2024.

Once ready, the 30 Mercedes-Benz eActros electric trucks will service the wider Perth metropolitan area from Centurion’s Hazelmere depot, supported by four megawatts of rooftop solar, ten megawatt hours of battery, and 15 dual port slow and fast chargers.

The state-owned Australian renewable energy agency (Arena) will contribute AUD 15.8 million (EUR 9.6 million ) towards the AUD 29 million (EUR 17.6 million) project. The new e-trucks will be officially launched in Australia in May this year. (ben)
