Another player switches to TIR in GCC region
Fedex Express, has completed its first TIR operation in the GCC region. The general cargo consignment, originating in Dubai, UAE, has reached its final destination, the King Fahad International Airport in Dammam, Saudi Arabia. The TIR truck seamlessly crossed the Batha border in Saudi Arabia in just four hours.
Fedex Express was able to significantly reduce its transport time by using the TIR express lane at the Batha border, as well as with the support of customs authorities and business-to-government TIR-IT integration with Saudi customs’ Fasah system, the International Road Transport Union (IRU) reported.
With TIR, Fedex will be able to significantly improve its Middle East road network transit times, the haulier said. (ben) (ben)
