Amazon's German expansion manifest

As part of Amazon's expansion scheme in Germany, Garbe Industrial Real Estate is developing a sorting centre for the online retailer in Erding, 30 km north-east of Munich. The new facility will have a floor area of around 5,200 sqm. The property is scheduled to be ready for occupancy in Q2/2022.

At this location, Amazon will sort customer order packages by postcode and transport them from there by truck to the distribution centres. The close airport expressway connects the site with Munich Airport, which is 12 km away.

Hamburg-based project developer Garbe has already constructed logistics centres for Amazon in Dortmund and Achim near Bremen, as well as distribution centres in Emden, Kaiserslautern and Messkirch in the Lake Constance region. Another distribution centre is currently under construction in Giengen and Brenz in eastern Baden-Württemberg. (sh)
