Amazon in Switzerland


In the second half of 2022, Amazon Web Services (AWS), a subsidiary of Amazon.com, plans to open a new infrastructure region based in Zurich (Switzerland) with three availability zones across the country, in addition to the already existing European regions in France, Germany, Ireland, Italy, Sweden and UK.

 

With the AWS Europe (Zurich)-region, more programmers, start-ups and big companies, but also public authorities, educational institutions and non-profit organisations can operate their applications in Switzerland and serve their end customers from these new locations.

 

Online trader Amazon again posted a very successful result in Q3/2020. Turnover rose by 37% to USD 96.1 billion, a new record high. Profit reached USD 6.3 billion. Amazon’s subsidiary AWS increased its turnover by 29% to USD 11.6 billion. (sh)
